The Daytona Beach Boardwalk and Pier
A Daytona Beach classic! The best Daytona days have to feature the boardwalk and pier. Alive with activity every day of the summer, this bustling boardwalk is an exclamation mark on any day of beach fun in the sun. Drop a quarter or two into some classic arcade machines (and a few you may not have seen before) and get ready to take on your friends! Show off your skills at the Skee-Ball table and you could even win enough tickets to take home a fantastic prize.
Hit up some of the local gift shops for a unique souvenir, enjoy an ice-cream on the pier, and test your bravery on one of the nearby Ferris wheels. After an afternoon of sun-kissed fun, you can get back out the rest of the beach, but there’s a solid chance you’ll be back again tomorrow.

A Fun Time Swimming In Daytona Lagoon
Daytona Beach’s signature water park and family entertainment center, Daytona Lagoon provides tons of great activities for thrill-seekers. High-speed water slides and thrilling rides. On the one hand, you have the amazing water park, with its 12 wild attractions, its wave pool and its slightly more relaxing lazy river. But who wants to relax when he can run through the conquest of Kraken at clenched-fist speeds?
However, if you prefer to stay a little drier, there’s the action-packed family entertainment center. Try go-kart racing, the laser tag or the challenging Sky Maze, with its rope, obstacle course, and zip line course.
The Ponce de León Lighthouse
Ready to take in a little bit of history? Why not visit a location with some real local importance, and soak some of what makes Daytona such a rich vacation destination?
The lighthouse at Ponce de León inlet is the tallest lighthouse in the entire state of Florida. If that’s not enough, it’s home to one of the most impressive views of the local area you’re likely to see. Take a trip out to the peninsula’s southernmost point and get ready for a climb. With a hefty but reasonable 175 foot climb, this spot rewards visitors with an amazing view of Daytona Beach.
Well worth the 203-step climb to the top, right? Talk about an experience! Once you’re all done with the big workout, you’ll still have plenty of time to visit the nearby on-site museum for something a little more low-key.
Looking for a little more entertainment? On the same grounds, you’ll find the outstanding Marine Science Center. Discover awesome examples of local rescued birds, sea turtles, and onsite teaching lessons for a great day out!
The Beach Itself
A trip to Daytona Beach without visiting the actual beach should be considered a crime. This is, after all, the “most famous beach in the world”. Take in 23 gorgeous miles of hot white sand, cool water, and ocean sprays. Whether alone, with the family, or with that someone special, this is a beach experience you shouldn’t miss.
Looking to do a little more than just walk along the shore? There are various designated areas that allow beach driving, as well, or you could always stop and join in a volleyball game. Throw out a towel and watch as people walk by, sipping on a cool drink as the Daytona sun gives you a great tan!
This is the quintessential Daytona experience. Even if your schedule’s filled up, every day you’re there, make sure to make some time for the beach.
Daytona International Speedway
The world-famous home of the Daytona 500, the Daytona International Speedway has seen some history in its time. Clocking in at a whopping 500 acres in downtown Daytona Beach, this track draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
Not familiar with the world’s foremost racing destination? It’s only home to the annual Daytona 500, the pride of the NASCAR race scene. Whether you visit to take in the annual event or just decide to join one of the daily tours of the site, you’ll have a lot to take in. With towering seating that dwarfs everything around you, an expansive track, and regular events, on-site, this is a solid addition to any “to-do” list.
The Museum of Arts and Sciences
Daytona Beach is home to several attractions that are, above and beyond, the biggest and the best in the state. Case in point, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, is the single largest in the area.
Otherwise known as MOAS, the museum is a perennial favorite for visitors to the area. It offers awesome collections and various ongoing temporary exhibitions, all exhibiting the city’s rich cultural history.
Take a break from the exhibitions with the stunning on-site planetarium, and let the relaxing shows soothe and educate you. Let the kids run around the nearby science center, while mom and dad enjoy a little downtime. Then, get the whole family back together for some delicious fun at the largest collection of Coca Cola memorabilia.
Lastly, remember to change it up a little. Wednesday nights at the MOAS include “Yoga in the Gallery”. Right there in the museum’s lobby, this restful weekly meeting is a great way to unwind and can help with the stresses of coordinating a vacation.
