You don’t have to be the adventurous type to enjoy the Poconos with all its fall beauty. This is the perfect time of year to take a break from the monotony of work and the stresses of home.

Fall in Pennsylvania, particularly in The Poconos, is just a little bit more special than other places. The largest man-made lake in the Poconos, Lake Wallenpaupack, affords you the ability to kick back and relax. With its majestic 2,400 square miles of land, this lake and all its offerings are a sight not to be missed.

Just a few miles outside of Lake Wallenpaupack, you will find interesting and off-the-beaten-path spots to see. These spots may be less crowded on days when all of New York has come to play on the Lake. If you’re just looking for family time or to test your athleticism, look no further than just a few miles nearby.

Here Are Our Picks Of The Top Three Things to Do:

Lacawac Sanctuary – Only two miles outside of Lake Wallenpaupack, National Historic Registered “Adirondack Great Camp” complex was constructed in 1903. Its mission includes research, education, and the preservation of Lake Lacawac, a pristine 52-acre lake. There are six hiking trails, a garden full of native plants, and wonderful demonstrations of forest and deer exclosure plots.

The Craft Room – Only a mile outside of Lake Wallanpaupack, The Craft Room is all about art! They offer sip-and-paint sessions, birthday parties, and baby and bridal shower paint parties. They also offer crochet and knitting classes. So, if you want to get creative on your vacation, stop on in and paint something.

Skytop Lodge’s Adventures – About nine miles outside of Lake Wallanpaupack, there is so much to do here. They offer lodging, dining, and some of the coolest adventures you’ll find anywhere in the area. While visiting or staying with them, try your hand at clay shooting at their shooting range. You can go zip-lining down their 16-tree zip-lining course. Last, but not least, go rock climbing on their 33 foot climbing wall.

Whether you pick all or none of them, you’ll still be in the Poconos relaxing and enjoying what treats nature has to give you. Remember to reserve your trip with Rooms101, your vacation experts.
